JOIN US IN A CREATIVE WORKSHOP OR STUDIO TODAY
Our Winter Studios are more involved than a single session Creative Workshop. A studio meets for two consecutive sessions, most often a Saturday morning and a Sunday afternoon. We have four studios in the Wointer Program.
SATURDAY, MARCH 13 9-12 NOON & SUNDAY, MARCH 14 1-3
This colorful project gives you the chance to do some fun, spontaneous painting with bright happy color, rip and cut paper into strips, weave the strips into a woven mat that is shaped into a bowl. Once this has dried, you will do a bit of collage, weave in colored wire and adorn the art bowl with beads and buttons. This is not a bowl you will use for making Jello, but it will make a striking statement hung on your wall.
SATURDAY, MARCH 6 9-12 NOON & SUNDAY, MARCH 7 1-3
This lighting fixtures is like a hanging sculpture and is constructed from handmade paper components. This is a two-part workshop because you will first cast an assortment of component shapes from newly poured handmade paper. Before you can do anything further, these shapes need to dry. In the second session you will fit the components together into a hanging fixture including the wiring and light. Leave the fixture completely white or add color with transparent watercolor.
SATURDAY, MARCH 27 9-12 NOON & SUNDAY, MARCH 28 1-3
You will design and construct a mold to cast a hypertufa pedestal and the bird bath that goes on top. It is not your typical bird bath, but more of a beautiful garden sculpture. In the casting process, you will add in sections of mirrored glass mosaic.
SATURDAY, APRIL 3 9-12 NOON & SUNDAY, APRIL 4 1-3
Cast a series of shaped leaves in concrete and combine with glass and mirror to create your own unique hanging sculpture that makes a dandy rain chain when hung under a waterspout . Component pieces will be cast and prepared in the first session and assembled and completed in the second.
Creative Workshops are single 2 1/2 hour sessions where you make and take your finished item at the end of the workshop.
